Oasis will be releasing a compilation album this summer, a double-disc featuring greatest hits, called Time Flies…1994-2009. Guitarist Noel Gallagher quit the band last August with “great relief,” thus ending the 15 year collaboration between him and his brother, frontman Liam Gallagher.
Oasis has released collections before, like 2006′s Stop the Clocks, which combined several of Oasis’ best songs with a few of the band’s personal favorites. This album however differs in that it concentrates entirely on Oasis’ A sides, from 1994’s “Whatever” all the way through their last single, “Falling Down.”
Time Flies is due out in the States on June 15th. A deluxe edition of the definitive Oasis hits collection will come with a bonus DVD featuring all 36 of Oasis’ music videos, live performances and audio commentary by Liam and Noel. The deluxe edition will also be accompanied by a third CD that boasts a live recording of Oasis’ July 2009 London performance at the iTunes Festival, which was the last time the Gallagher brothers played together before Noel quit the band. A 5-LP version of Time Flies will also be available. All formats come with a booklet that features song commentaries by Noel and Liam as well as e-mail testimonials by Oasis fans.
