“Heart Full of Pentagons” is the title of the IT song off San Francisco indie band Film School’s new record, Fission, which just came out this summer. If you cruise over to Spinner for a free download of that tune, you’ll quickly discover that Film School is all the shoegaze rage they’ve ever been, defined by danceable beats and new-wave inspired hooks that’ll melt you.
Though ‘Film School’ would appear to be a feat of a search term, natural listings find them at the top, and it’s no wonder. These gents and lady have earned their keep through diligent past SXSW affairs and national touring at large, gaining them blog buzz that’s no doubt strengthened their ropes of underground following. But Film School has been in the mainstream eye recently, too. “Go Down Together,” a track off the 2007 LP, Hideout, was featured on the new version of The CW’s 90210 series this year.
Film School is rounding out this stint of their tour with the Florida based electro shoegaze (if you will) likes of Million Young. The duo has East Coast dates scheduled through mid-October, and Film School’s tour continues in support of The Depreciation Guild, followed and concluded by three dates with Love Like Fire.
