Green Day frontman Billie Joe Armstrong joined the cast of American Idiot in September, tackling the role of Jimmy, a role usually played by actor Tony Vincent, and he liked it so much that he’s signed on for 50 more shows.
According to an announcement on the show’s website, Armstrong will reprise the role again beginning January 1 and running through February 27 at New York’s St. James Theatre. His cameo appearances will take place January 1-9, January 18-30 and February 10-27. Tony Vincent will end his run as St. Jimmy on December 30.
The Tony-winning show is based on the band’s Grammy-winning 2004 album of the same name.
