GigMaven Launches in Atlanta

Though GigMaven might not be a new online booking fixture to many of you aspiring indie rockers, it has recently launched in a few cities. Atlanta was recently added to the map, rounding out a roster of markets that includes New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Chicago, Boston, Philadelphia, D.C., Austin, Phoenix and Ohio.

Differentiating itself from other online booking services, GigMaven is a free website that helps artists find venues and book gigs at local staple venues (not just festivals and super-sized events). For Atlanta, the list includes Eyedrum, The Earl, The Five Spot, The Fox Theatre and The Masquerade. By charging on the backend – production and ticketing – GigMaven is able to keep costs down (free) for the average band that is booking and promoting independently.

GigMaven contributes commentary to the music community in which it operates through Maven.ly, a sister blog site full of reviews, features and spotlights on new and emerging artists. Frequent contests drive activity through GigMaven’s rapidly growing online community, so signing up and keeping tabs on the site might be worth your while even if you’re not currently seeking booking aid.

The creators of GigMaven plan to extend its booking base to include several new music markets over the next year, so check back often for additions in your city.
