Motorhead Announces North American Tour

Motorhead, which released its debut self-titled album in 1977, announced Monday a slew of North American dates that includes a Tuesday, March 8, stop at Stubb’s Bar-B-Q in Austin. Celebrating their 35th anniversary and touring in support of The World is Yours, which is slated for a Feb. 8 release, singer/bassist Lemmy Kilmister, guitarist Phil Campbell and drummer Mikkey Dee last played in the area on Sept. 20, 2009, also at Stubb’s.

Their previous San Antonio visit came Aug. 24, 2008, joining Heaven & Hell and Testament as opening acts for Judas Priest on the Metal Masters tour at the Verizon Wireless Amphitheater. Don’t rule out another San Antonio show on this tour. The date listed before the Austin show is Saturday, March 5, and is labeled as TBA. Although it’s unlikely San Antonio and Austin shows would occur four days apart — especially with a March 4 concert scheduled for New Jersey — you never know until it becomes official.

In addition to the forthcoming album, a documentary about Kilmister, entitled “Lemmy,” is scheduled to premier nationally next month. Kilmister also sings a song called “Dr. Alibi” on Slash’s latest solo album. Slash, the Velvet Revolver and former Guns N’ Roses guitarist, opens for Ozzy Osbourne at the AT&T Center on Jan. 24. Motorhead’s tour kicks off Jan. 25 in Anaheim, Calif.

Motorhead, architects of classic songs such as “Ace of Spades,” “Iron Fist,” “Built For Speed” and “Eat the Rich,” has already posted lyrics for each song from The World is Yours, which can be viewed here. The new video for “Get Back in Line” can be seen below.
