Who is Esperanza Spalding? That’s what most Justin Bieber fans have been asking since the virtually unknown singer/bassist Esperanza Spalding snatched the Best New Artist award away from Bieber last night at the 53rd Annual Grammys.
Some of Justin’s fans took the loss pretty hard and their anger spilled over to Spalding’s Wikipedia page prompting a 13-minute online war between Bieber and anti-Bieber fans.
But again, who is Esperanza Spalding.
Esperanza Spalding is a 26-year-old bassist, singer and composer from Portland, Oregon who has showcased her musical talents at the White House and at the Nobel Peace Prize concert in 2009. Even with that impressive resume most people have no idea who she is. But after her Grammy win we have a feeling that you’ll be hearing her name a lot.
