Spiritualized have recently announced they will be cancelling two shows in August, including their Standon Calling headline slot the weekend of August 12-14. The shows have been cancelled for the same reason the band recently had to cancel a show in Sicily; frontman J. Spaceman* has been recieving ongoing medical treatment that is near completion, but still acts an obstacle. A press release from the bands agent states
“Everything possible has been done to try and play these shows but it recently became apparent that Jason would not be able to perform. Spiritualized apologize to everyone who is affected and hope they realise that cancellation was the only unavoidable option given the medical circumstances.”

Seriously though, nothing but love for Spiritualized. In fact to my knowledge, in the bands 20-plus year career this is the first show the band has ever cancelled. I wish Spaceman a swift and full recovery – luckily the band’s October and 2012 shows are unaffected. Spiritualized have a new album scheduled for release TBA 2012.
