Unheard Daft Punk Track to be Released

Back in 2010, the folks at Soma Records were thumbing through the archives of their storage rooms, looking through memorabilia, albums, etc.  Then, out of nowhere, they found something pleasantly unexpected.  Here’s a quote from their site:

“Imagine our surprise when we discovered a tape simply entitled ‘Daft Drive’. We hooked up the DAT machine and inserted the tape with the delicacy of a surgeon, pressing play and praying that for one, the tape contained what we hoped, and two, that it didn’t chew it like a dog chewing on a bone. In amongst the hiss and crackle, the most monstrous 909 kick drum thudded. Daft Punk’s Drive track had been rediscovered.”

The track, recorded back in 1994, will be for sale on a compilation album that the label is releasing.  Soma Records 20 Years is a triple CD album, and places “Drive” rightfully so as the first track of the first CD.  You can pre-order the album here!
