We would say that reactions to the Metallica/Lou Reed collaboration “Lulu” have been mixed, but that would imply that 50 percent of those that listened to the album actually liked it, and that’s probably untrue.
Even after countless interviews, no one seems to know what Metallica was thinking when they recorded this album, and that includes Trivium bassist Paolo Gregoletto, who has officially joined the ranks of utterly confused Metallica fans.
In an interview with Metalshrine, when asked what he thought of Lulu Paolo responded, ”It’s really weird. Do I understand it? If anyone thinks they understand it, they’re on drugs. It’s a weird album, man! We listened to most of it. We were just like, ‘What the fuck is this?’ It’s so weird. I saw some videos of it live and if those dudes are happy doing that, then more power to them, because they’re still my favorite band, but it’s really weird and I think everyone thinks that, too.”
Trivium recently announced U.S. tour dates with In Flames, and despite the mixed reactions, Metallica and Lou Reed have been making the media rounds promoting the album. Click here to watch the duo’s discuss Lulu.
