George Clooney Annual Sag Awards

The 18th Annual SAG award nominations have been announced.

The Artist, The Descendants, Midnight in Paris and The Help have been the frontrunners of the 2011 award season, and the SAG awards were no different. And once again Bridesmaids found it’s way to the top of the pack. All five films were nominated for “Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture.”

Other SAG nominees included George Clooney, who was nominated for “Outstanding Performance by an Actor” for The Descendants, along with his buddy Brad Pitt who was nominated in the same category for his role in Moneyball.

There’s stiff combination in category for “Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Leading Role” where Michelle Williams, Meryl Streep, Tilda Swanson, Viola Davis and Glenn Close were all nominated.

Other nominees included Kyra Sedgwick who received a nod for “Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Drama Series” for her role on the TNT hit drama, The Closer. Alec Baldwin and Steve Carell were both nominated for “Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Comedy Series.” And HBO’s new hit series Game of Thrones walked away with nod for “Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Drama Series.”

The 18th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards will be simulcast live nationally on TNT and TBS on Sunday, January 29 at 8PM
