The South Kensington home of 80s singer Adam Ant was raided on Monday (January 16) by the U.K. Border Police, in connection with immigration offences.
Police arrived just after 6.30AM and arrested a 36-year old woman, who it is believed is a Japanese national with an expired visa.
Adam Ant was questioned after the arrest, but did not comment on his relationship with the woman.
Ant’s lawyer Dean Dunham told The Daily Mirror:
“This lady is one of Adam’s friends. She is co-operating fully with the authorities. She had attempted to make the correct applications to extend her visa but the authorities had been dealing with the wrong address.”
The U.K. Border Agency confirmed that an arrest was made in a statement:
“A 36-year-old Japanese national was arrested for immigration offences at an address in the Knightsbridge area and is now detained, pending her removal from the UK. Our officers carry out hundreds of operations like this every year across London, and where we find people who are in the UK illegally we will seek to remove them.”
At the time of writing, Adam Ant’s U.K. tour is still set to begin tomorrow (Thursday 19 January).
