Today the Andrew W.K. camp announced the “I Get Wet Ten Year Anniversary Tour.” This means that Andrew and the full band will be performing their debut record, for the first time ever, in its entirety.
I Get Wet took rock fans by surprise ten years ago, ushering in Andrew W.K.’s unique, party-boy style and throwing him into the international arena. This tour is in celebration of that record. For the tour, the band will play each track from it in order, including – yes, because I know you were wondering, like me – their SXSW dates.
You might be shocked to discover that Andrew has recently been turning his positive messages into motivational lectures, speaking to students at places like Harvard and Yale. You might also be interested to know that recent collaborative endeavors of his have included such artists as reggae and dub pioneer, Lee “Scratch” Perry, Matt & Kim, Soulja Boy, Current 93, Good Charlotte, Steve Aoki, Rivers Cuomo and even The Simpsons animated series (Andrew W.K. performed the theme song for the legendary cartoon’s 20th anniversary episode).
Pre-sale tickets for the upcoming tour are available beginning Friday, January 20th, 2012, at 10am (EST) only on AndrewWK.com.
Tickets go on sale to the general public on the morning of Friday, January 27th, 2012.
