Well that was quick. Disney has pull their Joy Division inspired t-shirts. The company made the decision after an MTV interview with former Joy Division/New Order bassist Peter Hook surfaced. In the interview Hook said that he didn’t believe that any of the band members had worked with Disney on the t-shirts. He went on to say: “I have seen a lot of Mickey Mouse t-shirts in my time. But I have to say this is probably the best… I hope that [Disney] will be as understanding when we start doing Donald Duck shirts.”
A Disney representative stated, ”As soon as we became aware there could be an issue, we pulled it from our shelves and our online store to review the situation further.” A link to the shirt on the webstore has been pulled.
As previously reported, the House of Mouse unveiled the t- shirt on Monday. The artwork was influenced by the cover of the bands debut album, ‘Unknown Pleasures”. According to Pitchfork, a few of the shirts have already made their way to eBay with bids reaching the $200 mark.
