You heard it! Our favorite mouse has taken on a new look. Disney has now unveiled thier new Mickey Mouse T- shirt inspired by Joy Division, an English rock band formed in 1976.
Disney’s creativity was influenced by the cover of the bands debut album, ‘Unknown Pleasures”. This isn’t the only time Joy Division imagery has been used for extraneous commercial purpose . A website appearing to stock Joy Division’ trainers appeared in 2007.
Promoting their new inspiration, Disney celebrates stating:
“Inspired by the iconic sleeve of Joy Division’s ‘Unknown Pleasures’ album, this Waves Mickey Mouse Tee incorporates Mickey’s image within the graphic of the pulse of a star. That’s appropriate given few stars have made bigger waves than Mickey!”
The image was originally taken from the Cambridge Encyclopedia Of Astronomy, then chosen by the band with help from graphic designer Peter Saville. You can purchase this new, “Wave Making Tee” on the official Disney website or in the Disney Store at a price of $24.99.
