Garbage to Self Release New LP

Due to be released on the band’s own label, Stunvolume, the seminal, and most importantly reunited Garbage are due to make their return sometime in the spring. The as yet untitled album will be the band’s fifth studio album, and the first since 2005′s ‘Bleed Like Me’.

Fronted by Shirley Manson, as well as featuring Butch Vig on drums who produced Nirvana’s classic ‘Nevermind’, the band recorded the album at Altwater Village in L.A. The only details released so far have been that the deluxe form of the album will contain sixteen tracks, with Manson taking to Twitter to announce:

“All extra tracks for the deluxe album package off to mastering now. 16 new songs for your listening pleasure coming soon. This is beyond exciting for us. Hope you feel the same way too.”

Speaking of the band’s decision to self release their new album, Manson talked of the displeasure with Record Companies, stating the band, and Manson in particular were tired of ‘greedy corporate interest’, also adding ‘We don’t like how they do business. This time we are going to do it our way… Our aim is to put out music that is pure of heart.’

The band have said that they intend to tour the new record, ‘extensively’, so for fans who thought the Greatest hits album was the final nail in the coffin, you’ll be pleased to have been wrong.
