Luck is not in Kailyn’s favor when she gets in a car accident and her car is totaled. She realizes how much easier her situation would be if she did not have a child. Kailyn calls scrap metal places to try to get some money for her car, but with the towing and storage fees no one is willing to pay anything that is worth it. She gets emotional and tells Isaac, “We’re broke and we don’t have a car.” Kailyn’s luck returns when she gets a $350 check from the salvage yard and a friend’s father helps her get a new car at his used auto center. She gets together with her friend and boyfriend to talk about her situation and possibly filing for child support. Her friends agree that is a good idea and she really needs the help. Her ex boyfriend and son’s father is not happy about her filing for support and calls her selfish.
Chelsea meets with her dad about getting a new apartment and he agrees to help pay for rent as long as her boyfriend does not move in. They talk about what kind of apartment she is looking for and reminisce on how much she has grown up over the past two years. Chelsea finds an apartment she likes and goes to check it out, excited about her new prospects. Now that Adam is working full time things are tense between the two, and Adam cannot fully commit to helping Chelsea move when she needs it. Adam does come over but ends up saying he is tired and leaves after 2.5 seconds. Chelsea realizes he is tired because of his job, but is upset that he couldn’t even help move in some of their daughter’s items.
Leah has to take Ali for another test at a geneticist and is worried about the results. She tells a friend she is starting to lose hope with the whole process. Leah and her father-in-law have a heart-to-heart talk about how the whole Ali situation has been affecting them. Her father in law tells her the she and Corey have to deal with things that most people in their middle age have to go through. Leah’s daughter is seemingly improving. She stands on her own for the first time, giving Leah and Corey hope and encouragement. Leah finds out Ali’s tests were normal and she is extremely relieved. The doctor suggests they continue with physical therapy and the family is excited everything is okay with Ali.
Jenelle is also having no luck in the automobile department. Her Honda breaks down and she has to get a new car. Jenelle and Kieffer’s relationship seems to be going well, but she gets a text message from an ex-boyfriend, sparking a disagreement between the two. Jenelle cannot get out of her funk when Kieffer won’t talk to her after their fight. Her mother tells her to snap out of it and get out the relationship, but she just cries and yells at her mom to leave her alone. Jenelle and Kieffer get together and Kieffer breaks it off, saying Jenelle is not ready to be his girlfriend. A breakdown ensues.
