The Vaccines to Head to the Studio in March

Speaking to the NME, the Vaccines have announced that they will start work on recording their follow up to ‘What Did You Expect From the Vaccines’ in March, and have promised the album will be released by the end of the year, claiming it will ‘definitely’ be finished. Ethan Johns is due to produce the new LP, having previously worked on albums by Kings of Leon and Ryan Adams.

Frontman Justin Young also detailed the things they hoped to change on the new record, explaining that he hoped that the choice of Johns as producer would help them instigate these ideas; ‘The reason we wanted to work with Ethan is not because he’s a hit manufacturer, but he’s a real songs man.’ Before adding that ‘Our first record is quite linear, so it’d be nice to have something that breathes a bit more and with a bit more warmth and maturity, but that still sounds like us.’.

The band are currently on tour in Australia, where they’ve been working on some of the new material, of which they have six songs they have final versions of. The band will return to the UK in time for a short tour in May.
