The Shins just revealed a new song called “September,” a b-side to their most recent single “Simple Song.” While the latter is a grand power pop track, “September” channels the harmonic melancholy of the group’s earlier ballads, such as “Pink Bullets” and “New Slang.”
“September” will be officially released as part of the “Simple Song” 7″ on Feb. 14. The Shins’ next full-length studio album Port of Morrow will be released on March 20. This will mark the band’s debut on frontman James Mercer’s own label Aural Apothecary, via Columbia Records.
The Shins have also confirmed another leg of U.S. headline dates in support of the new album. Check out the new tour dates and listen to ”September” below.
