Magneto Will Be the Focus of the Next X-Men Film

Actor Michael Fassbender had an incredible 2011 and it looks like the winning streak will keep on rolling through 2013.

According to X-Men: First Class screenwriter Simon Kinberg, the next installment of the series will focus on Magneto, played by Fassbender.

Kinberg, along with director Matthew Vaughn (who is currently producing Kick-Ass 2) are working on the storyline for the next X-Men film, and even though the project is still under development, Kinberg already told MTV News that Magneto’s role will increase in the follow-up.

“Magneto becomes the villain ultimately of the franchise but he’s a much more complicated character as a young man. He’s someone you sympathise with, you care about you root for even though might not necessarily agree with his methods, you understand his philosophy,” he said.

Aside from the X-Men, Fassbender will also be seen in Ridley Scott’s Prometheus alongside Charlize Theron, Noomi Rapace and Idris Elba.
