Slightly Stoopid Rocks the Birds Nest

Even if you’re not a golf fan you probably have heard about the Phoenix Open and the Birds Nest. With over a half-million attendees annually, the Waste Management Phoenix Open is the biggest golf tournament in the world. The Birds Nest at the Phoenix Open offers a daily after party and some of the coolest bands around. This year the Nest is hosting Will.I.AM, The Goo Goo Dolls and tonight Slightly Stoopid took the stage in front of thousands of people.

The boys from Cali brought their brand of unclassifiable music to the people of Phoenix. Slightly Stoopid is talented in so many different areas that you could call it anything from jazz to reggae and that is why they have been able to successfully tour constantly for over a decade. They hit the stage and started the groove strong and kept building throughout the night. Slow reggae jams, fast punk songs, beat boxing, guitar and sax soloing combined with the smell of high-quality greenery had the crowd bouncing to the beats and thrashing around.

Founding member Kyle McDonald was highly energetic, as usual and also stopped a fight in the front row with the business-end of a microphone. Slightly Stoopid is known for their jams and did not disappoint the cougars of Scottsdale and ASU alumni that filled the birds nest. A three minute saxophone solo got the crowd hyped and the 20-30 minute encore sealed the deal as the best concert of 2012 so far.
