Whitney Houston will be laid to rest on Saturday at New Hope Baptist Church in Newark, New Jersey, but only a select few will be permitted inside the church. Now there are reports that Aretha Franklin and Stevie Wonder will both perform at the singer’s memorial service
The service will take place at noon at the New Hope Baptist Church, where Houston performed in the gospel choir as a child. Newark Police Director Samuel DeMaio is advising fans to stay home and watch the ceremony which will be televised.
An autopsy has been completed, but the coroner’s office has issued subpoenas for her medical records after finding prescription drugs in her Beverly Hills hotel room. The office say the move was standard procedure in such cases. The coroner’s office is also awaiting the results of a toxicology report which could take up to six weeks.
