A current trend emerging in the NBC late night realm – mainly for Jimmy Fallon – is to not only have an artist perform at the end of the show, but also save a couple nuggets for the web. This double-edged sword of a tactic is bittersweet to say the least. On one hand, there is the pleasure of hearing more high-quality live performances from adored artists. Contrarily, the tinge of sadness from knowing a group’s valued B-sides will never make it to television (such as “Perth” or, say, Primus’ “Jerry Was A Race Car Driver” happening tonight) remains.
