Whitney Houston’s Last Movie Hits Theaters in August

Before her untimely death, Whitney Houston had just wrapped up filming on what will now be her last movie, Sparkle.

Now Rolling Stone reports that the movie is set for an August 17th release. The movie, a remake of the 1976 picture of the same name, features Houston as the mother of three sisters who form a musical group and struggle with fame and drugs. The cast also includes Jordin Sparks, Cee Lo Green and Mike Epps.

Houston also recorded several songs for the movie’s soundtrack, but a release date has not been released.
