Movie goers are on cloud 9 with the news that “Anchorman 2″ is in the works. Will Ferrell announced Wednesday night that sequel is finally happening.
After years of constant rumors and hearsay, Ferrell arrived at Conan O’Brien’s TBS talk show dressed as the 1970′s news anchorman, Ron Burgundy.
Ferrell made the public announcement,
“I want to announce this to all of our friends in the Americas, Spain, Turkey and the U.K. — including England — that as of 0900 mountain time, Paramount pictures and myself … have come to terms on a sequel to ‘Anchorman.’ There will be a sequel.”
Steve Carell and Paul Rudd, part of the original cast of the first”Anchorman,” will also return to reprise their roles as Brick Tamland and Brian Fantana, according to Deadline.com
“Anchorman 2″ will be produced by Judd Apatow, along with Ferrell and Adam McKay’s Gary Sanchez Productions. McKay and Ferrell are working hard on the script for this sure-to-be memorable comedy. Production is to begin at the end of the year with the expected release date to fall in 2013
