Bill Maher Mocks Rural Mississippi Residents

At least once a week someone is upset with comedian and host Bill Maher. This time Maher ruffled some features after he mocked some rural Mississippi residents.

In the video seen below, filmmaker Alexandra Pelosi talks to some Mississippi residents about President Obama, healthcare, welfare and the economy among other things. Maher then aired parts of the video on his show, HBO’s “Real Time”, and poked some fun at the video participants.

Watch the video below via Mediaite.

Go ahead, make fun of the people in the South. Do it loudly, and for a long time. Get as nasty as you can.  And then you can watch us when the November elections are near. You see, people from the South have moved all over the country,Friends and family are in every single city and state in the U,S, Make fun of us now, We will show you what damage we can do in November.

With the upcoming Republican primaries in key southern states, I figure the purpose of the series of interviews in Mississippi was to understand the heart and minds of local Republicans in the poorest yet most conservative U.S. state; What was revealed was the most proudest displays of blatant racism and sheer ignorance (that generations throughout American history have fought lifetimes and given their lives to overcome) the world has ever seen – an utter disgrace to the nation.

As ignorance is not in the least attractive or productive, especially when it comes to solving  serious problems of a nation affecting so many, but instead of acknowledging this, the fact that you defend by characterizing this revelation of ignorance as making fun of people in the South and threatening that your ilk will infiltrate the rest of the country with your Southern ignorance is as sad and pathetic as your anti-civil rights, anti-women’s rights, anti-enviroanment Rebulican party of racism, war, big oil, corporate greed, your good buddy Rush Limbaugh, and last but not least the daily Fox News lie machine that directs your mental fitness.

I know you people hope and pray for a return to the days of slavery with sentiments like ”the South will rise again” whatever the hell that’s supposed to mean, but I’m sorry to inform you, it’s the 21st century; the country is no longer comprised of white racists, instead a melting pot of different races and cultures that elected a black president and will once again prevent your Republican ilk from doing “damage” to the counrty, like the present economic mess we are coming out of as a result of 8 years of (the stolen 2000) Bush presidency; in case you forgot, Bush inherited billions of dollars in a SURPLUS left over from the Clinton Administartion, and SQUANDERED IT IN 6 MONTHS – Obama inherited Bush’s mess. Have a nice day.

The people from Mississippi were mocking them selves.

I am a Mississippian..probably scored higer on my college entrance exams than any of you, I have all my teeth, and I am white, and not a racist…..This video is an obvious sham…”did not cherry pick”…please, as if run-down shacks and Wal-Mart parking lots is the place to conduct a non-biased interview.  Bill Maher, you should be ashamed, you are no better than Jesse Jackson, playing the race card to get attention.  Cmon!….How come PELOSI didn’t interview any of our nice black citizens eh?

        • Tsavonell

I’m sure you’re very intelligent…. Regardless of whether the
participants in this video were “cherry picked”, there are a lot of places in
this country, where you’d have a hard time finding people to say shit like this.
But I think you’re missing the bigger picture. Blatant prejudice, willful
ignorance and poor command of the English language, isn’t really the point.
Many of us, have been asking this question for quite some time: why do the poor
in the south vote Republican, and ultimately AGAINST their best interests? You
all…… sorry…… I mean, Y’all brand yourselves as “pick yer self up by the boot
strap”, “personal responsibility” types, but the fact of the matter is that
your entire state is a drag on many of the more progressive states. California,
my home, gets a return of about .78 for every dollar we pay in federal tax, Mississippi
gets over 2.00 for every dollar they pay. Maybe Mississippi needs to try
something new? And stop burdening the rest of us.

and you know why that is? Look at the percentage of blacks in the mississippi population. Most wont work. If your of breeding age you have 4 babies. they are gien rent free apts. subsidised power bills. free phones public this public that free education. hey im a fucking taxpayer too dude. and a mississipian.

            • Tsavonell

most southerners here in this comment section are arguing that mississippi isn’t full of uninformed racist rednecks.

Bill Maher did not so much as mock rural Mississipians as he did just let them speak. And what they spoke (“The President should be an American, not a Muslim”) says more about Mississippi than anything Bill Maher could ever say.

Someone should tell that Mississippi gentleman to please read the U.S. Constitution: “No religious test shall ever be required as a qualification to any office or public trust under the United States” (Article VI -last sentence).

As a missippian, I feel this video was made to make fun of us and although, we are the poorest state in the country, we also have lots of good things about us. Not everyone in this state is racist or poor, and if she had really gotten off the plane and interveiwed the people who work everyday to make a living to provide for themselves as well as their family, she would know that we are smart, intelligent people.  But, no she drove an hour west to Vicksburg, MS and found some of the poorest parts and people in that town to interview so she could make a video that is a such an embarrasement to this state. What’s even worse is that her mom is Nancy Peloski, who is the biggest manipulaor in the country, which is why America does NOT need people like this running the country!!! NEWT 2012

Um…maybe it’s because for every $1 Mississippi pays in federal taxes, they get back $2.83 in the form of government aid. You want to secede? Fine. Good. I’m tired of subsidizing Southern States.
