Jack White surprised onlookers at the Debating Chamber at London’s County Hall last night in a surprise appearance at the launch of his own album show.

Blunderbuss, White’s new solo record, was ‘played on vinyl from the rafters of the room’ according to the NME. The legendary musician then made his surprise appearance, introduced by the Mayor Of Lambeth, Councillor Christiana Valcarcel, in full dress robes, and proceeded to take questions and talk about the album. White answered a variety of questions about the nature of going solo to how the songs came to fruition, stating;

It just happened one song at a time, like it always does, let the song be in charge and let the song tell you what you’re doing and you’re just a servant of the music at that point. When you think you’re in control of the song then that’s when you’re making a mistake I think.

White, known for his illusiveness when it comes to interviews answered in great detail, and spoke freely of new single ‘Love Interruption’ saying ‘it’s been used for so long, thousands of times in plays, paintings, poems and if you’re going to say that word I think you have to really put a twist on it for yourself.’

White recently played two of the album’s tracks on Saturday Night Live, both songs were well received and we’re excited to hear more.

Blunderbuss is set to drop on the 23rd April via White’s own label, Third Man Records.
