‘Kony 2012’ Video Targeting Celebrities, Rihanna Responds

So if you are reading this and still don’t know about the ‘Kony 2012’ video circulating the web, get out from underneath your rock. The video is a 30 minute mini-documentary created in support of Invisible Children, a nonprofit focused on combating the Lord’s Resistance Army (LRA) in Africa. Whether you agree or disagree with the methods this company implements, it is undeniable that this has caused one of the larger viral splashes in 2012.

In an effort to increase awareness/support, Invisible Children have created a list of celebrities they wish to secure support from within the coming months. On said list are Oprah, Mark Zuckerberg, Lady Gaga, Angelina Jolie, George Clooney, Papa Bear O’Reilly, Bill Gates, Jay-Z, The Biebs, Rick Warren, Ellen Degeneres, Ben Affleck, Rihanna, Stephen Colbert, Warren Buffett, Taylor Swift, Ryan Seacrest, Tim Tebow, Rush Limbaugh and Bono.

Below are the celebrities that have shown support and how they have done so.

Oprah via Twitter: “Thanks tweeps for sending me info about ending #LRAviolence. I am aware. Have supported with $’s and voice and will not stop. #KONY2012.”

The Biebs via Twitter: “It is time to make him known. Im calling on ALL MY FANS, FRIENDS, and FAMILY to come together and #STOPKONY.”

Ryan Seacrest via Twitter: “Was going to sleep last night and saw ur tweets about #StopKony…watched in bed, was blown away.” Then posted the link to the video.

Rihanna via Twitter: “#KONY2012 Spread the word!!!” Then posted the link to the video.

Rihanna, however is taking matters a step further. According to TMZ, she is currently in talks with Invisible Children to participate in the next mini-documentary.
