When the tracklisting for Nicki Minaj’s forthcoming project Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded leaked, it was this track’s star-studded line up that left jaws on the floor. Even the wildest imaginations couldn’t fathom what the outcome would be, and I can honestly say that Champion could be one of the best non-commercial records we have seen from Nicki in some time.
The very laid back production isn’t like the earlier leaked Roman Reloaded tracks, and that’s a big plus. On this single we hear a more sincere side of Nicki, not the lunatic that has spewed nonsense for the last few years. Even her singing has improved to the status of being a little better than bearable. Hopefully more growth and improvements will be found on Roman Reloaded.
