‘Stewart Lee’s Comedy Vehicle’ to Return for Two More Series

Stewart Lee

Critically acclaimed late-night comedy series, Stewart Lee’s Comedy Vehicle, has been recommissioned for two more series, according to producer Armando Ianucci.

The news has yet to be confirmed by the BBC, however, Ianucci took to his Twitter account to say:

“Yes! The BBC have commissioned 2 more series of Stewart Lee’s Comedy Vehicle.”

Despite being a hit with critics and Stewart Lee winning double plaudits at the 2011 British Comedy Awards (Best Male TV Comic and Best Comedy Entertainment Show), the show had been received relatively poorly by audiences – with most episodes garnerning fewer than 1 million viewers.

It is expected that the third series of …Comedy Vehicle will be broadcast and the end of 2012, with the fourth following in 2013.

In related news, Stewart Lee will be in residence at Edinburgh’s Assembly Rooms from Thursday 2nd August to Sunday 26th August. He will be performing a condensed version of his current Carpet Remnant World national tour, which has been running since the summer of 2011.
