Bob Dylan to Receive U.S. Medal of Freedom

Legendary singer-songwriter, Bob Dylan, will receive the United States’ highest civilian honour – the Medal of Freedom.

To be awarded by president Barack Obama, Dylan will be recognised along with John Glenn (Astronaut), Toni Morrison (Novelist) and former U.S. Secretary of State Madeleine Albright, among others.

Obama said:

“They’ve challenged us, they’ve inspired us and they’ve made the world a better place.”

Dylan musical career has spanned seven decades and the singer continues his work to this day, with a new album due for release towards the end of 2012.
