Dick Clark Dead at 82

Dick Clark, the longtime host of “American Bandstand,” has died, a publicist says. TMZ reports that Clark died this morning after suffering a “massive heart attack”.

Clark, a lifelong entertainer, started hosting American Bandstand (Bob Horn’s Bandstand) in 1956. He went on to start the create the ever popular “New Year’s Rockin’ Eve” in 1972, but stepped down in 2004 after suffering a stroke.  In 2006, AI alum Ryan Seacreast took over hosting duties for Rockin’ Eve, although Clark has made many cameos throughout the years.

He was married three times and is survived by 3 children and his current wife Kari Wigton.

Update:  A number of celebrities, some that personally worked with Clark, have taken to twitter to express their grief.
