Mayer Hawthorne to Play Mercy Lounge May 1st

As previously mentioned, Mayer Hawthorne announced a significant string of North America tour dates back in February. Now, the bow tie-wielding soulster is making his way to The Mercy Lounge in Nashville, TN thanks to local independent station Lightning 100. Hawthorne, along with his backing band The County, are touring in support of How Do You Do, the October effort sporting the ever-catchy “The Walk,” which retro horn stylings contrast nicely against the more modern fight scene à la Mr. and Mrs. Smith present in the video (see below).

Sneaking his way into the neo-soul scene back in 2008, Hawthorne may not pack the same mainstream punch as genre counterparts John Legend and Cee Lo Green, but makes up for it with his a no-nonsense approach to his soulful roots. Whether crooning love songs such as “Finally Falling” or working along hip hop icons such as Snoop Dogg in “Can’t Stop,” Hawthorne is cutting out a spot for himself in soul history.

So check out the track/video below, let us know what you think about this guy, and if you happen to be in the greater Nashville area this coming May Day, make sure to swing by and check out Mayer Hawthorne and The Country! Tickets can be purchased at Mercy Lounge’s site here.
