Spears Asks Judge to Add Fiance to Conservatorship

Britney Spears’ court-appointed attorney requested that her fiancé, Jason Trawick, join her father, Jamie Spears, in having control over her major personal decisions, including medical care. Trawick is the pop superstar’s agent and appeared in court with his future wife last month.

Superior Court Judge Reva Goetz closed the proceedings after attorneys said they wanted to discuss the singer’s medical care and trade secrets.

Jamie Spears also attended the hearing. He and an attorney have had control over the singer’s personal and financial affairs since February 2008 after months of erratic behavior. Goetz held several hearings a year to get updates on Spears’ health, finances and other issues. Spears rarely attends the hearings but has met several times with the judge. Spears will attend the April 25 co-conservator hearing.

Goetz will also consider whether to allow the sale of Spears’ former home which was a frequent target of the paparazzi and was the residence where police escorted Spears to a psychiatric hold.

Spears and Trawick have been dating since 2009 and announced in December that they are engaged. No wedding date has been announced.
