The film that took the box office by storm in 1975 will be returning with new and improved features.
The original motion picture Jaws will make its debut on Blu-ray after undergoing a frame-by-frame restoration.
Universal recently issued a press release confirming the project of a high definition version of Jaws with improved picture, an expanded sound mix and a collection of in-depth bonus materials.
This film, along with several others, will be digitally remastered and restored to help commemorate Universal’s 100th year anniversary.
Jaws was restored from its camera negative after much research and constant evaluation of the original film elements including inter-positives and 35mm prints
Universal Studio’s technicians balanced color, removed dirt and scratches, and otherwise repaired any damage on a frame-by-frame basis.
The new DVD will feature highlights from the full-length documentary featuring interviews with key cast and crew.
Jaws is set to be released in Blu-ray August 14, 2012.
