Bloc Party Announce Details for New Album ‘Four’

Way back in January of this year, Bloc Party frontman, Kele Okereke took to Zane Lowe’s BBC Radio 1 show to tell fans of the progress Bloc Party had made on their new album. The news wasn’t perhaps out of the blue, but with rumours of tensions between the band members, a fourth release was far from guaranteed.

Today however, Okereke took to his own website to announce the details of the outfits first release since 2008′s, Intimacy. The suitably titled fourth album, Four, is set for release on the 21st July via Frenchkiss records. Also announced was an extensive list of tour dates, which you’ll be able to see at the bottom of the page.

Okereke said of the upcoming release:

We have just finished mixing our new record. I am very proud of it. It is the best thing that we have ever done and finishing this record has taken us on quite a journey.

The singer also outlined a series of problems the band had to overcome to finish the record, including “babies, breakdowns, tantrums and hospitalisations”. Four was recorded in New York in the winter of 2011, and is set to focus heavily around the effect 2011 had on Okereke, who stated; “in terms of global history, the most dramatic year I have experienced in my entire life.”
