Coldplay singer Chris Martin will be at the forefront of a campaign which tells young people to preserve their hearing by wearing earplugs, along with other singers and musicians such as Gary Numan, Plan B and Judge Jules.
The Loud Music campaign wishes to make people aware of the dangers of tinnitus, an affliction associated with prolonged listening to music at high volumes.
Martin said in an interview:
“Looking after your ears is unfortunately something you don’t think about until there’s a problem…I’ve had tinnitus for about 10 years, and since I started protecting my ears it hasn’t got any worse. But I wish I’d thought about it earlier.”
