Freddie Mercury to ‘Appear’ On Stage With Queen

To commemorate the 10th anniversary of West End musical We Will Rock You, co-creator Brian May has said that his former Queen band mate Freddie Mercury will ‘appear’ on stage.

May has stressed that the technique is unlike the holographic effect used to bring rapper Tupac Shukur back to life, but will instead be an “optical illusion of sorts”.

In an interview with the BBC, May said:

“People will come out saying, ‘did we actually see Freddie?’”

The Queen guitarist added that to have a hologram of Freddie Mercury like Tupac’s as a regular feature would not be possible: “…[it is] something we’ve looked at ourselves but I think probably for a show that runs eight shows a week it’s not really quite practical.”

The special edition of the show will take place Monday 14th May at London’s Dominion Theatre, and will feature an appearance by Hollywood star Robert De Niro – who is a producer of the show.
