Halfway through the recently reunited band’s show at their Atlantic City’s House of Blues, lead singer Shirley Manson halted proceedings to chastise a male member of the audience for punching a female fan. The exchange lead to Manson ordering the fan to exit the gig.
The incident occurred whilst the band were halfway through their seminal ’95 hit, Stupid Girl, with Manson taking up the issue with the male fan, declaring;
“Dude, never hit a fucking woman, what is wrong with you man”
The man was removed by the venue security team, though claimed that he had acted in self-defense. Manson continued; “You’re fighting baby, you gotta leave now. You can’t fucking fight, man. You can’t fight. I’m sorry, that’s the rules, man. We just need to all simmer down.” After the male fan was ejected, the band started the song over, and all was well.
Garbage are currently in the middle of their US tour in support of their first new album in seven years; Blood For Poppies, which was released last month. Watch a video of the incident below:
