While he’s not producing hits for everyone from Jay-Z to Gloria Estefan, modeling for Louis Vuitton, or working as creative director of Karmaloop TV, Grammy winning producer Pharrell Williams will now be focusing his energy on building his new label “i am OTHER.”
Four artists have been introduced as i am OTHER’s premiere acts: a young Compton, CA rapper known as Buddy, as well as YouTube singing sensations Alyssa Bernal, Leah LaBelle and Maxine Ashley. This will be Williams’ second foray into record label entrepreneurship, as he has proven to be a strong force with his previous brand, Star Trak Entertainment, which launched the careers of successful artists such as Robin Thicke, N.E.R.D., The Clipse and Slim Thug. i am OTHER is actually a continuation/new name for Sar Trak, and will serve as a spiritual successor that will continue the brand’s unique presence in contemporary pop and urban music.
