Thai Fans Insulted by Lady Gaga’s Tweets

Thailand would like to recognized for positive things, such as their cuisine or their music, but their not too happy when you mention their black market goods.

After landing in the country last night for a concert stop on her “Born This Way Ball” world tour, the singer tweeted, “I just landed in Bangkok baby! Ready for 50,000 screaming Thai monsters. I wanna get lost in a lady market and buy fake Rolex.”

Although the singer was referring to the Ladies Market, an outdoor shopping area, the tweet still managed to ignite a mini firestorm, which caused some to speak out against the singer and even threaten to boycott her concert.

“We are more civilized than you think,” Thai DJ Surahit Siamwalla tweeted back. He added that he would now be boycotting her show.

Another fan wrote, “She came to our home, but instead of admiring us she insulted us.”

Gaga’s Asia tour stop is not going as well as expected. Earlier this month, citing safety concerns, Indonesian authorities refused to issue a permit for her June 3rd show in Jakarta after conservative Muslim groups protested.
