The Avengers Smash Box Office Records

The Boy who Lived just died at the hand of the Avengers, at least when it comes to the box office opening weekend.

Marvel’s epic extravaganza pulled up an estimated $200.3 million, killing the previous champ Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2, who held the top spot with $169.2 million.

With a tally of $641.8 million made elsewhere, the Joss Whedon film has scored around $842.1 million up to this point.

Iron Man, the Black Widow and the rest of the superheroes left little business to the rest of the films, with Think Like a Man coming up in second place with $8 million.

The Hunger Games still refuses to go down and even came up a few places to land at number 3, managing to score $5.7 million.
