The xx Announce Tour Dates

The critically acclaimed, Mercury Music Prize winning, the xx, are set to return after today announcing a small European tour. The dates have come perhaps sooner than some would’ve expected, however, we’re going to take a guess that album number two may well be on it’s way.

The xx were one of 2009′s most revered new bands, with their debut release xx, featuring in many of the critics end of year lists, as well as garnering themselves the much respected Mercury Music Prize in 2010. Though the band suffered the loss of second guitarist and keyboardist Baria Qureshi, the trio carried on and went on to play a string of festival dates.

Though not much has been said of the record, bass player and vocalist Oliver Sim has said of the record;

“We’ve all come back off tour and been partying a bit more. We left when we were 17 and we missed out on that chunk of our lives when everyone else was partying. Club music has definitely had an influence on the next record.”

The tour is set to feature three London shows, and two in France, before the band take to the European festival circuit, where they’ll be playing numerous shows including Primavera, Bestival, Rock Werchter, Lowlands and Electric Picnic. The tour dates are as follows:
