Lamb of God’s Randy Blythe Arrested for Manslaughter

In unexpected news earlier today, Lamb of God frontman Randy Blythe has been arrested for Manslaughter in the Czech Republic, over an incident that occurred in 2010.

The lead singer was arrested just before the band were due to play their scheduled show at Prague’s Hard Rock Cafe. The news has been reported by local news source Novinky.cz, and while at first it appeared doubtful, the Czech Police came out with a statement, saying:

“We have arrested the singer and charged him with the crime of bodily harm of fourth degree and resulting in the death of the fan.”

The incident in question occurred over two years ago, on the 24th May 2010 in a Prague club called Abaton, in which the metal band were playing a headline show. A fan of the band climbed on stage and an alleged scuffle or tussle occurred between the fan and Blythe, resulting in the injury of the fan, and subsequent death.

Lamb of God’s spokeswoman Maria Ferrero said that an official statement would be released on Monday (2nd July), stating “As no formal charges have yet been made and the case is only in the investigation stages, it would be premature to make an official statement filled with false truths or innuendos.” Ferrero also spoke to music site, the Examiner, saying Blythe was “falsely accused”, adding: “Lawyers are working on it and he will be exonerated.”

Fererro also detailed the events Lamb of God stand by, stating:

“Under no circumstances was there a fight of any kind involved. This incident deals with a fan that three times during the concert jumped the barricade and rushed Randy during the performance. It is alleged that the third time, security was not able to reach him and that Randy pushed him back into the audience where supposedly he fell and hit his head.”

The band, who are one of the biggest metal bands in the world are currently touring in support of their latest album, Resolution, and took to twitter simply to state, “Freerandyblythe”.
