Madonna Incurs the Wrath and Possible Legal Action of the French National Front

Madonna has found herself threatened with legal action after an incident during her ‘MDNA’ World tour. The ‘Queen of Pop’ has seemingly had more lawsuits filed against her than she’s had hot dinners, but this lawsuit is one you wouldn’t quite expect. Of the many people who’ve tried to sue Madonna including; Public Enemy, the son of the French Photographer Guy Bourdain, Joe Francis, the creator of the ‘Girls Gone Wild’ franchise, an Australian street artist and her own neighbour, this possible lawsuit is a strange one.

Marine Le Pen, the head of the French National Front, has been irked somewhat by the use of a picture of her face during a segment in Madonna’s show in Tel Aviv. Now, the French National Front are about as Far Right as you could possibly go and yet still be one of France’s major political parties, (i’ve heard a rumour that their political manifesto comes with the precondition of: “I’m not racist, but…”), but Le Pen was angered by the fact that during the show, a Swastika was superimposed over her face, appearing to be imprinted on her forehead.

The segment occurred during Madonna’s performance of Nobody Knows Me, and Le Pen has stated that, should the pop icon include the same item within her shows in France, she will not hesitate to sue, stating: “If she does that in France, we’ll be waiting”. She also took the oppurtunity to take a personal dig at the singer herself, saying; “We understand how old singers who need to get people talking about them go to such extremes.”

Madonna has not yet responded to the threat by the French politician, so we might have to wait until the stars’ performance in France to find out if the Queen of Pop has decided to take any notice.
