Swedish House Mafia Announce Split

Dance trio, Swedish House Mafia have announced their plans to devolve following the climax of their upcoming tour.

In an announcement on the band’s official website, DJ’s Axwell, Steve Angello and Sebastian Ingrosso, the respectoive members of the dance outfit, promised to announce the band’s last handful of tour dates in August. In a short statement, the band said:

“Today we want to share with you, that the tour we are about to go on will be our last. We want to thank every single one of you that came with us on this journey. We came, we raved, we loved.”

Though the trio only released one compilation album of their various singles and remixes, the influence they had on the dance scene led DJ Magazine to place the supergroup at number 10 in their Top 100 DJ Poll in 2011. The band also scored four top ten hits in the UK, as well as getting two number 1′s on the US Dance Charts.

The trio are set to focus on their solo careers, with Ingrosso taking to twitter saying, “It’s better to burn out, than fade away”. UK rap artist Tinie Tempah, who appeared on the trio’s track Miami 2 Ibiza said the group’s decision was ‘such a shame’, adding, ‘They came together to create something that was really incredible, all the guys are talented geniuses.’
