The Whigs Release New Song and Announce Album Details

The Whigs
Athens rockers offer up a dose of “Summer Heat”

The Whigs, the Athens, GA trio full of rock and roll promise and explosive energy, are slated to release their fourth album, Enjoy the Company, on September 18. The band wrote the songs in Nashville, TN and Athens, GA and recorded the album in Woodstock, NY with legendary producer John Agnello (Sonic Youth, The Hold Steady, Dinosaur Jr., Drive-By Truckers). Enjoy the Company will be their first release for New West Records (Old 97’s, Steve Earle, Tom Morello).

The Whigs’s goal was to create an exciting album of driving rock songs that are equal parts punk, pop and melodic. Drummer Julian Dorio described the process by saying, “we looked back at our first three albums and saw what we liked and didn’t. We thought about the songwriting, playing, production – taking the best elements to make a record – a bunch of songs, that we’re really proud of.”

The Athens guys have been kind enough to share “Summer Heat” months before the release of Enjoy the Company (and just in time for prolonged play during  the coming months of sweltering temperatures).  Stay tuned to TST for upcoming fall tour dates for The Whigs.
