Melissa Etheridge will release 4th Street Feeling on September 4th. This will be her first album in twenty-four years,
“This has been my favorite, most enjoyable time in the studio. I believed in myself more in this album than I ever have.” The 51-year-old musician tells Rolling Stone.
All guitar parts featured on the upcoming album are played exclusively by Etheridge. The album will also include several songs that may appear in a musical she’s currently developing with her girlfriend, Nurse Jackie creator Linda Wallem.
The 12-track album recorded this spring in Los Angeles, will feature songs such as the ‘Falling Up’. The song written after a long night out, also serves as a positive emotional release for Etheridge, the mother of four.
“It was a feeling good thing,” Etheridge explains. “It’s about me moving on, feeling good, I’m falling up. I might be learning these lessons hard. They might be coming hard and fast to me but I’m falling up. I’m going somewhere good.”
