Carly Rae Jepsen Blowing a ‘Kiss’ to fans in September

Carly Rae Jepsen may have dominated the summer airwaves with “Call Me Maybe,” but the former Canadian Idol contestant hasn’t released a full length album since 2008′s Tug of War. “Call Me Maybe” was the lead single off her EP Curiosity, which dropped Valentine’s Day of this year but aside from that six-track album, Jepsen has yet to release new material. That will change with the September 18th release of her sophomore album Kiss.

In a statement for Kiss, Jepsen described the album as pop record and said it was “inspired by Robyn, The Cars, Madonna, and believe it or not, James Taylor.”

With the release of Kiss more than a month of way, many people wonder whether Jepsen can top the success of “Call Me Maybe.” The song, has been a staple on the Billboard Hot 100 and has spawned a number of parodies. Jepsen, however, does not seem daunted by the challenge. She recruited hit producer Max Martin as well as Josh Ramsey, Dallas Austen and Toby Gad to pen material for the album.
