Cat Power Announces Fall Tour in Support of ‘Sun’

Fans of Cat Power have ample reason to be excited right now. With the release of her first official album of new material since 2006′s exercise in perfect elegance, The Greatest, under a month away, Chan Marshall has plotted a 15-date trek across North America in October and November.

With the new LP, Sun, slated for a September 4 release on her longtime home of Matador, it’d be a award-worthy performance in deception for a Cat Power die-hard to try and restrain the tiniest bit of giddiness for what’s coming in the weeks ahead. If you’re looking for a taste of what to expect with Sun, be sure to give both “Ruin” and “Cherokee” a listen (or ten). Chan has been so kind as to release the latter for download along with a Nicolas Jaar remix of the song for the simple exchange of an email address on her website.
