One Direction’s Zayn Malik Quits Twitter

In news that rocked the social media world Zayn Malik, one-fifth of the band One Direction, quit Twitter after receiving repeated hate tweets.

Before completely deactivating his account, Malik explained his reasoning via the micro-blogging site: “The reason i don’t tweet as much as i use to, is because I’m sick of all the useless opinions and hate that I get daily.” After signing off with a “goodbye twitter” status, Malik deleted his account for good.

Malik joines John Mayer, Miley Cyrus, Alec Baldwin and Amanda Bynes, all of whom at one point quit the social media site. Mayer is the only aforementioned celebrity not to reactivate his account.

The other four members of One Direction–Harry Styles, Niall Horan, Liam Payne and Louis Tomlinson–still have their own personal Twitter accounts.
